Young Entrepreneurs to Line the Streets with Lemonade Stands

Lemonade Day Elkhart County is set for Saturday, May20, 2017.

It’s inspiring to envision hundreds of kids with lemonade stands set upall around Elkhart on one of the busiest Saturdays of the spring. On Lemonade Day, everyone has a job… you’re either selling lemonade or buying lemonade. What better way to spark the energy, talents and dreams of tomorrow’s leaders right here in our own hometown?

Congruent with the entrepreneurial spirit of Elkhart, Lemonade Day is a program designed to teach children how to start, own and run their own business: a lemonade stand. Through this enterprise, school-aged youth in Elkhart Countywill have the opportunity to learn these crucial entrepreneurial skills necessary to be successful in the future and encouraged to “spend a little, give a little and save a little” from their profits of their own individual lemonade stands.

Registration will open in March 2017; however, kids are encouraged to begin thinking about their business plan now. Participants also have the ability to compete in contests for the Best Tasting Lemonade, Best Business and Most Creative Lemonade Stand in May. Parents are encouraged to stay tuned for details on the JA & Lemonade Day website and Facebook page.

Lemonade Day is powered nationally by Google for Entrepreneurs and sponsored locally by Centier Bank, Kem Krest, Lippert Components, Specialized Staffing and Welch Packaging.
